Exploration is the heart of our Art program. Guided by the National Core Arts Standards, we provide a space where students build the creative confidence to examine the world around them. Whether mixing paints or constructing with recycled materials, students are constantly engaging in creative problem-solving and critical thinking. We focus on the process over product, valuing the mistakes and discoveries that happen along the way just as much as the final masterpiece. Each unit of study enables students to create expressive works that support the concepts taught, helping them develop their own distinctive style. Students explore a wide variety of materials while focusing on the Elements and Principles of Design, such as Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Rhythm, Contrast, and Unity. Finally, students are asked to reflect and refine their creations before preparing them for display.
